In June 2010, Studio Hamburg Media Consult International (MCI) GmbH had been commissioned by the Saarländischer Rundfunk (SR) to build a rapid news reporting van for their radio channel. Primarily the van will be deployed for topical newscasts. The project was supported by ProVan as a subcontractor and expert for body constructions.
Great importance was attached on the transmission. For the first time, a satellite dish have been applied for the broadcasting of the SR radio channel. In order to accomplish this project properly, an entire SNG audio equipment, containing satellite antenna, pan-tilt-mechanism, automatic control, SAT-modem and separate IP-codec had been inserted by IGP. The rapid news reporting van facilitates and allows a stereophonic transmission to the broadcasting studio, using audio-SNG-uplink, ISDN dial-up connection, UMTS, audio-over-IP, network plug or analog or digital cable connection.
Furthermore the SR required special technical equipment referring to the construction. The van had to be usable for a two-man-service (reporter and technician) as well as for short-term and flexible reports, realizable by a single person. To meet the SR demand, products of the company DAVIS had been applied to simplify time-consuming and manual operations. The equipment allows the use of collect buttons enabling the handling with several tasks, which are programmable in advance.
In order to meet the customer wishes, MCI constructed a rapid news reporting van, which responds to a technically challenging news coverage. The project had removed the last obstacle to complex music reproductions i.e. from a church. The acceptance took place in January 2011.
