In October 2012, Studio Hamburg Media Consult International (MCI) GmbH was asked by Bayerischer Rundfunk (BR) the modernise the technical facilities of the radio station BAYERN 3.
To ensure that broadcasting runs smoothly during the building phase, the job was divided into two parts. During the first part of the project a temporary broadcast complex was set up in the Studio 3 premises of the studios. State-of-the-art technology and new studio furniture was used for this. After a seven-month planning and construction phase, MCI handed over the temporary broadcasting area to BR. Then the renovations of the new broadcast complex in the rooms formerly used by BAYERN 3 began, so that MCI was able to start planning the second part of the project in the third quarter of 2013, the modernisation of the technical facilities of BAYERN 3.
The technical facilities of BAYERN 3 comprise of two self-propelled broadcast studios with an upstream co-pilot and support area each, for the technical support of the programmes. In addition, an editing area (or hot room) close to the programmes with 11 workstations was set up where the presenters can prepare their programmes. The second part of the project also includes the construction of a new production studio (TBR) including voice-over room. The central radio technology equipment will be spread over two new equipment rooms.
The broadcast complexes will be fitted with sapphire mixing desks by Lawo, DigAS editing and broadcasting software by David and KVM technology by Guntermann & Drunck. All furniture was planned and custom-made for the customer in MCI’s own workshops.
The handover of the new broadcast complex to BR is planned for June 2014.
