In January 2000 the City of Cologne appointed Studio Hamburg Media Consult International (MCI) GmbH with the task of the technical furnishing of Georg Simon Ohm School, a large extra-occupational training centre.
Corresponding to the facilities of a broadcasting organisation, the school was equipped with professional broadcasting technology. Two studios with six cameras including lighting and stage technology as well as video and sound production with a duplicator production system were installed for the reproduction of a broadcasting operation.
The post-production area comprises seven non-linear editing sites which have access to a shared fibre channel-server (640 G-bytes). In addition, six logging sites, three sound post-production sites and 13 editing processing sites of the Casablanca type with an extensive flight case technology were planned and started operation.
Versatile MAZ and sound-carrier formats, Dolby Surround, projectors and plasma screens were installed for a basic training in the available classrooms.
The Georg Simon Ohm School in Cologne is an educational establishment for the training occupation “Video and Audio Media Designer”. Approximately 350 students complete this course of study each year.
