Studio Hamburg Media Consult International (MCI) GmbH modernized the technical equipment and the furnishings of virtual television studio E of Westdeutschen Rundfunk in Cologne.
The modernizations included video and sound direction, a voice-over room, a multi-purpose room and two equipment rooms. Broadcast technology such as audio and video crossbars, an audio mixer, image mixer, controller systems and KVM matrices were integrated into furnishings made by MCI for the purpose.
What’s special about this studio is the new way of switching operating modes. The studio is usable for various different forms of production. The direction workplaces can therefore be flexibly configured and can be used for different kinds of programmes and functions. This way, different operating modes can be implemented, such as full or reduced workplace capacity.
The new studio started broadcasting in autumn 2013.
